Although I’ve been away and haven’t had much time left to post, I’ve been taking pictures every day and finally I got some time to upload them.

I’ve been experimenting a bit with different things, the second picture is something I’d wanted to do for a long time and finally I decided to give it a try; I liked the outcome but I need to experiment some more, I have some ideas in my mind and we will see when they are going to become pictures.

20 days left!

Have a great weekend!

Hola!

Day 239

Exif Data: Nikon D5000 ; Lens:  Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55; 18 mm, ISO 160; f/18 ; 34 seconds.

Lately the weather has been crazy, in the last 2 days we have had such beautiful skies, blue and clear; although the heat has been really annoying, I bet we have had more than 33 degrees in the afternoon, and that would be very nice if you didn’t have to go to the university to study.

Around 5:00 o’clock, the sky got cloudy quickly, there was a moment where you couldn’t see anything but just clouds, it started raining hard, then it stopped, but it started being so windy and it lasted for about 30 minutes; it was still hot, but the rain refreshed the air; after a while it started thundering and I ran to my room to find my camera; I was lucky today, out of 10 pictures, I got 4 where lightnings are visible.

Hola!

Day 227

Exif Data: Nikon D5000; Lens: Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55; 18 mm; ISO 100; f/22; 154 seconds.

I shot this photo in the evening while I was driving with a friend, we set the camera on the tripod in the back part of the car, then I set the bulb mode and shot using a wireless shutter release control while I was driving, the idea was capturing  the lights of the city, including the lamps and car trails.

This is the result of today’s experiment, a sort of electriCity.

Hola!

Day 218

Exif Data: Nikon D5000 ; Lens:  Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55; 26 mm, ISO 200; f/25; 442,8 seconds.

It’s been another long day, but there is nothing to complain at, it’s been a good one.

All of a sudden things have been changing, even the nice weather; we were at my brother’s confirmation and in the very moment we were going out of the church, it started raining extremely hard, it was very windy and there were many thunders as well.

We made it home safe and sound, the church is just 2 blocks away from here, but the city was a chaos, there was no electricity anymore because of the thunders, and it means that the traffic lights stopped working.

That was the perfect opportunity to shoot a long exposure.

Hola!

Day 136

Hey people!

Posting a bit late today, but since very early I decided that I wanted to go to a viewing point where I could see the whole city. When I got there, I realized that part of the street could be visible in the picture, so I thought about including it to get some car trails.

Exif Data: Nikon D5000 ; Lens: Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55; 18 mm, ISO 250; f/14; 15 seconds.

Hola!

Day 20

I have to be honest and make clear that this photo wasn’t taken today, but almost, it was nearly midnight when I shot this, and I needed to post this as today’s photo because I don’t know when I’m gonna have this opportunity again: It was Halloween, the traffic was chaotic, there was a lot of people in the streets with different costumes and that made the traffic even worse; so the city was just a mess…

Could it be any worse?

Yes. Late in the night there was a black-out, so the traffic-lights stopped working and Pereira was just a huge chaos, and, as I like long exposure shots I decided to make a photo of this “beautiful mess”.

So, I set my camera in Bulb mode in which the shutter stays open only until the shutter button is released; in order to avoid moving I used a tripod and I had to stay still while holding the button, so the picture wasn’t coming out blurred.

I kept it pressed for 255 seconds (more than 4 minutes); and as the shutter is open, it catches all the light trails made by the cars.

My next 20 posts are gonna be in Spanish, my idea is that everyone can understand at least part of this project, so I’ll write 20 in english, then 20 in spanish.

Feel free to  critique or suggest anything you want.
