Day 16

Roses are supposed to be the most romantic flower; usually in the movies, tv shows, books, short stories, song and poems, it’s noticeable that a man who is in love, tends to give flowers.

I’m actually not really into flower shots, although some of them are really good because some photographers come up with different and original angles, points of view, colors and some play with their shapes.

I found this flower in my neighbor’s apartment and I had to take some photos because this rose was completely different to all those that I have seen in the past; its color was so vibrant and the shape of the petals was absolutely stunning; it had so many curves and I couldn’t resist; so this is my shot for today.

Facts about roses.

There are over 100 species of them.

A red rose is a symbol of socialism in countries as France, Norway, Denmark, Brazil, Finland and Portugal.

The rose family includes pears, apples, cherries, plums, peaches, apricots, and almonds.

The world’s oldest living rose is growing on the wall of the Cathedral of Hildesheim in Germany, it’s supposed to be 1000 years old.

Red roses symbolize love, passion, romance and desire.

Yellow roses are the color of friendship, familiar love, happiness and sympathy.

White roses are the bride’s flower symbolizing purity, sincerity, unity and a love stronger than death.

Pink roses signify gentleness, poetic romance and elegance.

Orange roses are great for a graduation gift or a promotion.

Purple roses symbolize majestic glory and eternal love.

It’s said that throwing rose leaves into a burning flame will bring you good luck.

Nowadays, 150 million roses are purchased by gardeners each year.

Feel free to  critique or suggest anything you want.
