Day 5


Today’s picture is a peacock’s feather, something that might be familiar for some of you, because it’s become very popular when it comes to decoration, masks, costumes, jewerly and so on.

Peacock is an asiatic specie of bird well known by its colorful long eye spotted tail.

A peacock sports about 150 of these feathers that are pretty long; but every year they are shed after the breeding season.

Some facts about these birds:

In Hinduism, the peacock represents benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and knowledge

The Greco-Roman Mythology the “eyes” upon the peacock’s tail represents the vault of heaven, and the eyes of the stars.

Babylonia and Persia see the peacock as a guardian to royalty.

Christianity considers the peacock as a symbol of eternal life. It also represents resurrection, renewal ans immortality.

  2. Aw, this was a really nice post. In idea I would like to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and actual effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and by no means seem to get something done.
