Yesterday a bunch of friends and I went to my uncle’s house in La Florida, a small town I’ve blogged about before.
There is a lot of nature in that area, that’s why it’s famous, there are lots of hills and forests, even a nice waterfall that I still have to visit; but I guess that what not many people imagine is that some people live in the mountains that are visible from the town, and my uncle is one of them.
We were 7 but only 5 of us decided to take the bikes to get there.
We hit the road at 9:00 am, the sun was shining and it was pretty hot, I’m guessing we had about 27 degrees; after 15 minutes, only 3 of us remained pedaling; and I don’t blame to the ones that stopped and quitted because the weather wasn’t really helping.
La Florida is nearly 20 kilometers away from Pereira, and the way is very hilly, so it takes like one and a half hour to get there if you don’t stop on the way; the 3 of us made it to the town, I was the last one because I stopped on the way lots of times to take photos of the different landscapes, and truth be told, I had not ridden my bike in almost one year, so at the beginning I was getting tired all the time. I like biking, that’s something I have to spend more time on this year.
At about 11:00 we finally met in the town, the 7 of us together to continue our trip; we stayed in the town resting for a little while and this car was there, I found it pretty cool and different to all the crazy business ideas I had seen; it was loaded with so many different things, from brooms to games.
After taking a short break we decided to continue our journey; we all had to start walking because the road to my uncle’s house is in a really bad condition; actually there is a point where there is no road anymore; anyways, they kept walking and I kept lagging behind taking photos.
Finally we got to my uncle’s house; he is an artist so the style of the house is pretty different to all the houses that I have visited in my entire life; that’s a place where I like to take the exchange students because is something that they love, not just because of the nature, they always end up fascinated with how the house is built and decorated in the inside. Probably I should do a post showing how this house is in the inside, so stay tuned with this blog 
We were extremely tired and the heat was making us sleepy, we made lunch, something easy as usual and rested in the house for about half an hour waiting for the sun to lessen up its rays, otherwise we were going to be fried outside; later on we went out for a walk by the river and found a place to stay, we almost found a small “beach” with sand and stones, and the area was pretty nice; we went into the water, cooled down a bit and relaxed for a while; the heat was still annoying and after spending there more than one hour, we decided to take care of the sun and left.
In the night we ate and started a fire in the chimney, the temperature changed a lot, finally the weather was chilly and there were no clouds at all, so as we were very far away from the civilization, there were no lights around and we could see a sky full of stars, I got to see 6 shooting stars and even captured one of them in the photo below; I also tried what I’ve always wanted to try, star trails, the result was okay, I think I need more practice and I definitely need to read more about it; hopefully some time soon or this year I’ll be able to get a decent one.

Today we woke up pretty early, 5 of us stood up at 4:45 am because we couldn’t sleep anymore, it was very cold and we didn’t have enough blankets, so we went downstairs to start the fire in the chimney again; I went out of the house for a second, it was very cold but the sky was still extremely beautiful; we ate something, talked for a while, saw the sunrise and fell asleep for a while in front of the chimney.
At 7:30 we stood up again and ate breakfast and got ready to hit the road again, as we were tired we walked slowly and it took us about 40 minutes to get to the town when it normally takes 20; and me taking photos didn’t help much, to me the landscapes looked even better today as there weren’t many clouds and the sun was shining on the mountains.
The way back on the bikes was way easy, it probably took us 40 minutes to get back to Pereira; all I wanted to do right after I got home was showering and sleeping, but transferring the photos on the computer became my priority when I opened the door; I realized how much I miss blogging -not enough to do another 365- and I decided to write my first post this year telling the story of my first trip to one of my favorite places.

Ayer un grupo de amigos y yo fuimos a la casa de mi tio en La Florida, un pueblito pequeño del que alguna vez he escrito.
Es conocido por toda la naturaleza que lo rodea; hay muchos caminos, bosques, montañas, incluso una cascada grande que aun tengopendiente por visitar, pero creo que mucha gente ignora que en esas montañas que se ven desde el pueblo vive gente, mi tio es uno de ellos.
Eramos 7, pero solo 5 decidimos irnos en bicicleta hasta alla. Salimos a las 9:00 am, el sol estaba muy picante, estaba haciendo mucho calor, calculo que unos 27 grados; después de 15 minutos sólo 3 seguiamos pedaleando, y la verdad, no culpo a los que pararon porque el calor no daba ganas de seguir.
La Florida está a unos 20 kilometros de Pereira, el camino de ida es una subida, no muy empinada pero constante, así que ir se lleva más o menos una hora y media, sin parar y pedaleando a buen ritmo; los tres llegamos a La Florida y por supuesto yo fui el último, pues paré a tomar fotos en el camino casi todo el tiempo.
Hacía mucho no montaba bicicleta, casi un año, por eso la primera media hora me cansaba constantemente; me gusta mucho montar bicicleta y creo que es algo que debo hacer más este año.
A las 11:00 am nos encontramos los 7 en el pueblo, nos quedamos ahi un momento descansando y recuperando energía para seguir el camino; mientras estabamos alla vimos el carro de la foto que hay arriba, me pareció muy particular y hasta pintoresco, es una idea de negocio muy diferente a todas las que alguna vez había visto, estaba cargado con todo tipo de cosas, desde escobas hasta juegos para niños.
Después de descansar decidimos continuar nuestro camino, que ya no era en bicicleta sino caminando porque la carretera para llegar a la casa de mi tio está en muy malas condiciones, además de un tiempo, llega un punto en el que ya no hay carretera entonces toca llegar caminando de cualquier modo; todos seguimos caminando, y yo seguía quedándome atras mientras tomaba fotos de todo lo que encontraba.
Por fin llegamos a la casa de mitio, el es un artista y por ende el estilo de su casa es muy diferente al de todas las casas que he visto en toda mi vida; alla me gusta ir con mis amigos y también llevar a todos los estudiantes de intercambio que vienen porque siempre les encanta, no sólo por la naturaleza sino por la forma en la que la casa está construida y decorada; creo que en el futuro tengo que hacer un post mostrando la casa de forma más detallada en su interior, así que esten pendientes de este blog
Estabamos muy cansados después de todo el recorrido, y el calor nos estaba dando mucho sueño. Hicimos el almuerzo, comimos, y esperamos a que el sol bajara un poco para salir, de lo contrario nos habriamos fritado afuera.
Caminamos un poco al lado del rio y llegamos a un buen lugar, una pequeña “playa” a la orilla del rio, con arena y piedras, nos metimos al rio helado para refrescarnos, y después de un rato de estar ahi, volvimos a la casa para cuidarnos del sol.
Por la noche el clima cambió, la temperatura bajó mucho y prendimos la chimenea para calentarnos; el cielo estaba despejado, no había ni una nube y estaba lleno de estrellas; en el tiempo que estuve mirando vi 6 estrellas fugaces, incluso una quedó en la foto que se ve arriba; ahi intenté hacer la foto de los famosos Star Trails que siempre he querido ahcer, algo salió pero creo que me falta todavía aprender un poquito sobre el tema, sobre todo en cuál estrella basarme para obtener el resultado que quiero.
Hoy 5 de nosotros nos levantamos temprano, a las 4:45 am porque no podiamos dormir más, estaba haciendo mucho frio y no teniamos suficientes cobijas, así que a esa hora bajamos y prendimos la chimenea; yo salí de la casa un momento y estaba haciendo muchísimo más frio del que me imaginaba, pero el cielo seguía igual, lleno de estrellas y sin una sola nube. Comimos algo, hablamos un rato, vimos el amanecer e intentamos dormirnos otra vez en frente de la chimenea.
A las 7:30 am nos levantamos otra vez para desayunar, y nos alistamos para ponernos en camino; como estabamos tan cansados nos tomó casi 40 minutos caminar hasta el pueblo, normalmente son unos 20, y mis paradas a tomar fotos no ayudaron a que todo fuera más rápido, pero hoy veía el lugar más bonito que de contumbre, el cielo estbaa despejado y la luz del sol iluminaba las montañas; era la luz perfecta para tomar fotos.
El camino de regreso en bicicleta fue muy facil, nos tomó unos 40 minutos llegar a Pereira; todo lo que quería hacer cuando llegara era bañarme y dormir, pero apenas crucé la puerta mi prioridad fue pasar las fotos al computador; me di cuenta cuanto extraño bloggear -aunque no tanto como para hacer otro 365- y decidí escribir mi primer post del 2013 y así compartir mi primer viaje del año a uno de mis lugares favoritos.
